As an Event Director you will be seen a senior member of the Event Practice, whom sets the benchmark of excellence and efficiencies for the broader Events Practice Team. Responsible for conceptualizing and executing innovative event strategies, through managing and directing an experienced team of event professionals, whilst nurturing key client relationships, to identify and grow future opportunities for the Event Practice.

Additionally, your role involves collaborating with leadership to align event initiatives with the overall company vision and objectives. As a seasoned professional, you'll utilize your extensive industry knowledge and creativity to position our events as industry-leading and memorable experiences.

This is a 12 month contract to perm role.

Responsibilities:

Proposal & Pitches

Proposal Oversight

            • Provide oversight and strategic direction for all event proposals, ensuring they align with organizational goals and standards.
            • Offer guidance on effective proposal development and review processes.
            • Strategic Pitch Leadership
            • Lead strategic pitch presentations for major clients or key opportunities, aligning pitches with the organization's long-term vision and objectives.
            • Mentor and guide team members in pitch strategies and delivery.

            Event Marketing

            Marketing Vision

            • Inform and support with the marketing vision of taking the event to market, aligning it with the overall event strategy and organizational objectives.
            • Ensure marketing efforts resonate with the target audience and support the event's goals.

            Event Planning and Coordination

            Strategic Oversight

            • Provide high-level strategic oversight of event planning processes and outcomes.
            • Align event planning with the organization's long-term vision and goals.

            Risk Management

            • Identify potential risks associated with events and develop mitigation strategies.
            • Provide guidance on risk assessment and contingency planning.

            Vendor Management

            Vendor Collaboration and Negotiation

            • Collaborate with the team to negotiate high-profile vendor contracts and agreements.
            • Foster relationships with key vendors and negotiate long-term contracts for recurring events.

            Strategic Vendor Planning

            • Develop a strategic approach to vendor selection, aligning with the Practices overarching vision and brand ethos.
            • Optimize vendor partnerships to enhance event quality and create a competitive edge.

            Risk Management and Troubleshooting

            Risk Oversight

            • Oversee the risk management process, ensuring that risks are assessed, documented, and addressed at a strategic level.
            • Make decisions on risk acceptance, mitigation, or avoidance based on organizational goals and event objectives.

            Troubleshooting Guidance

            • Provide guidance and expertise to the event team in troubleshooting complex issues that may arise during planning or execution.
            • Facilitate the resolution of critical challenges and conflicts.

            On-site Event Management

            Onsite Vision Execution

            • Ensure the event is executed in line with the envisioned concept and objectives.
            • Oversee the alignment of onsite activities with the overall event strategy.

            Stakeholder Engagement

            • Engage with stakeholders, sponsors, and key participants during the event to ensure satisfaction and alignment with the event's goals.
            • Address concerns or feedback related to onsite management.

            Post-Event Evaluation and Reporting

            Evaluation Oversight

            • Provide high-level oversight of the post-event evaluation process to ensure it aligns with organizational goals.
            • Guide the team in utilizing evaluation insights for strategic planning.

            Executive Reporting

            • Prepare an executive-level post-event report highlighting the event's success, challenges, and future recommendations.
            • Engage with executives to discuss the report and seek input for future events.

            Budget & Financial Management

            Budget Strategy

            • Develop a strategic approach to budget planning and allocation across events.
            • Review and approve high-level event budgets, providing guidance on financial strategy.

            Financial Accountability

            • Conduct thorough financial analysis, monitoring event resource hrs, costs, variances, and overall financial performance.
            • Ensure financial accountability at the event director level by reviewing major expenses and budget adherence.
            • Approve budget revisions and reallocations for significant event components.

            Client Relationship Management

            Client Relationship Strategy

            • Develop a high-level client relationship strategy to align with the Practice objectives and values.
            • Engage in high-level discussions with key clients to foster long-term partnerships.

            Client Feedback Analysis

            • Analyse feedback and insights from client interactions to enhance event planning and service delivery.
            • Utilize feedback to make informed strategic decisions related to client relationships.

            Team Leadership and Collaboration

            Strategic Team Leadership

            • Provide strategic leadership to event managers and their teams, aligning their efforts with the overall vision and objectives of the event.
            • Guide and mentor event managers to develop their leadership skills and handle complex event challenges.

            Alignment with Organizational Goals

            • Ensure the event team's activities align with the broader goals and values of the Practice.
            • Communicate organizational strategies and objectives to the team for effective integration into event planning and execution.

            Practice Marketing (External Positioning)

            • Provide strategic input into the agency's positioning, aligning it with the broader goals and reputation the agency seeks to build.
            • Oversee high-level marketing strategies and initiatives, ensuring they reflect the agency's brand and long-term objectives.

            Requirements:

            • Preferable bachelor’s degree or similar in Event Management, Business, Marketing, Hospitality or a related field.
            • 8+years of experience/exposure amongst an agency within the Event Marketing Industry (Internationally) with proven experience at leadership / management level.
            • Preferable within the B2B Technology Sector.
            • Direct experience of leading and managing multi-layered / complex event experience strategies from brief to event strategy, proposal, to conception to completion, whilst being part of a team to produce larger more complex campaigns (in-person or digitally).
            • Capability and experience on client pitch responses, to contribute and be accountable as an Event SME as part of the core pitch team.
            • Demonstrated leadership abilities, including team management and collaboration, across either direct report, cross agency departments/practices, and onsite vendor staff/crew.
            • Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and prioritize tasks and meet tight deadlines.
            • A keen eye for detail, creative thinker, and problem-solver abilities to handle unexpected situations and find innovative event solutions.
            • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to liaise, communicate with clients and vendors.
            • Strong teamwork and collaboration skills.
            • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
            • Strategic thinker to be able to advise and optimise our clients event experience throughout the campaign lifecycle.
            • Familiarity with event industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies/experience within Event Marketing to influence/inform the team and the Event Practice.
            • Proficiency in event management software's & platforms, project management tools, and Microsoft Suite.
            • Flexibility to work irregular hours, including evenings and weekends, to oversee events.
